Abellio Greater Anglia, has announced that more passengers than ever used its Stansted Express service in 2014.
Passenger numbers were up 21% on 2013, to over 6 million in 2014 - with the train operator’s range of low cost fares and fast, frequent services cited as the reasons that people choose to travel to Stansted Airport by rail.
For a half-term or Valentine getaway this February, passengers can save with The Stansted Express low-cost 7 day advance online offer, giving passengers savings of up to 27% on Standard tickets. Unlike some UK coach operators, the best value Stansted Express products are available over the half-term holiday.
To complement the fast, frequent service, a range of good value ticket products are available which are ideal for family or friends travelling together, including ‘Duo’ and ‘Group 3 and Group 4’ offers.
Stansted Express is the fastest and most comfortable way to get between Central London and the Airport. Journey time to/from Liverpool Street is just 47 minutes or 36 minutes from Tottenham Hale and the train station at the airport is directly under the airport terminal, just 2 minutes from checkout.
With trains every 15 minutes between London Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport, the Stansted Express not only offers customers a frequent service, but also travel on one of the most modern train fleets in the country, which include free Wi-fi, free charge points and an at seat trolley service of drinks and snacks.
Recent improvements to the service have included:
the installation of a new, dedicated Customer Service Desk at London Liverpool Street station which includes four ticket machines, a flight information display screen providing departure information for flights leaving in the next 2-3 hours, and a train departure information screen, showing next train and platform information and service updates and will be staffed by customer service assistants who will help passengers with ticket purchasing, general enquiries, flight and rail information and directions to the correct platforms for trains to Stansted Airport. Timetables and information leaflets are also available;
the introduction of additional services between Cambridge and Stansted Airport services. Abellio Greater Anglia now operates eight new services in each direction on Mondays to Fridays to enhance the existing timetable, operated by Cross Country, to provide an improved half-hourly off-peak frequency on the Cambridge to Stansted Airport rail corridor.
The extra trains depart Cambridge at: 09.31, 10.26, 11.26, 12.26, 13.26, 14.26, 15.26 and 21.46, with return services from Stansted Airport at: 10.05, 11.05, 12.05, 13.05, 14.05, 15.05, 16.05 and 22.05. All services call at Audley End.
