Everything’s coming up roses for the team at Abellio Greater Anglia’s Colchester Station after they received recognition at the annual Colchester in Bloom awards.

The Colchester station team won a ‘Special Contribution’ award at the Colchester in Bloom awards for the third year in a row.

Colchester station is adorned with numerous flower tubs, trugs and hanging baskets filled with colourful seasonal bedding plants.

The striking floral displays came about as a result of a partnership between Colchester in Bloom and Abellio Greater Anglia. The displays were planted up by volunteers from Colchester in Bloom, with many of the plants grown from seed and some additional plants provided by Craft Nurseries. However, much of the day to day maintenance of the flowers has been undertaken by the local Abellio Greater Anglia team, especially Stefan Boyanov who takes great care with the watering.

Pam Schomberg, Chairperson of Colchester in Bloom said: “I’d like to thank Stefan for his special contribution in nurturing the displays at the station so carefully. The floral displays at Colchester make a huge impact on entering the station, providing seasonal colour for the enjoyment of customers and staff alike.”

Petrina Murphy Abellio Greater Anglia’s Customer Service Manager said: “I’d like to congratulate the station team on their hat-trick of awards at the Colchester in Bloom awards. Our partnership with Colchester in Bloom has gone from strength to strength and we look forward to working with them even more in the future.”

The annual Colchester in Bloom award ceremony was held on Wednesday 1 October at the Colchester United stadium. Pam Schomberg, Chairperson of Colchester in Bloom, visited Colchester station on Wednesday 8 October to present the award certificate to Abellio Greater Anglia’s Stefan Boyanov.
