Rail passengers using Bishop’s Stortford rail station are benefiting from a better waiting room thanks to an improvement scheme completed by Abellio Greater Anglia.

The existing waiting room on the London-bound platforms has been enlarged to provide additional seating and now has longer opening hours (from 0600 until 0050 seven days a week).

The new facility also benefits from new flooring and a new ceiling, disability legislation-compliant push button automatic doors, a train departure summary screen and energy-efficient heating, as well redecoration in Abellio Greater Anglia colours. It also offers passengers the opportunity to charge laptops and mobile phones and work while they wait.

Kevin Walton, Area Customer Service Manager, said, “I am delighted with the look of the new waiting room which offers passengers a larger, more comfortable waiting environment. Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Abellio Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service to our customers. I would like to thank customers for their patience while the work was carried out.
