Abellio Greater Anglia is investing over £100K to improve the travelling environment on its fleet of Class 170 trains.

The trains, which operate on local railway lines in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, will have all the upholstery replaced on over 2000 seats over the coming months.

One train has already been completed and is back in service, providing passengers with a cleaner, smarter interior.

Commenting on the start of the refurbishment programme, Abellio Greater Anglia's Fleet Manager North, Dave Lupton, said: "We are delighted to begin this refresh of the seat covers on all our Class 170 carriages, which will deliver a significant improvement to the travelling environment for passengers.”

The Class 170 fleet comprises four two-car and eight three-car trains which operate services between Norwich and Cambridge, Ipswich and Lowestoft, Ipswich and Cambridge / Peterborough and Norwich and Great Yarmouth / Lowestoft / Cromer / Sheringham.
