What's included in a Rail and Sail ticket?

You'll get to travel from any Greater Anglia station to Harwich International Port where you'll cross the North Sea on one of Stena Line's Superferries. Stena Line operates two sailings per day from Harwich to the Hook of Holland allowing you to travel in comfort and style.

Amsterdam

Onboard facilities on a Stena Line Superferry include a self-service and an à la carte restaurant, bars, a shop, a cinema, play areas for kids and teenagers, the Stena Plus lounge, a range of en-suite cabins and free WiFi. You can arrive at the Hook of Holland refreshed and ready for an onward journey to any Dutch city.

Day crossings on Stena Line's Harwich to Hook of Holland ferry route take around seven hours. Overnight sailings take approximately eight hours.

Choose the economical day sailing for a relaxed crossing for only £58 one way so you can take advantage of the onboard facilities that will entertain you during your journey. You'll find you'll arrive in Holland in no time.

Onward Travel from the Hook of Holland

The Rail and Sail ticket doesn’t include onward rail travel from the Hook of Holland.

Once arriving at the Hook of Holland (Hoek van Holland), you can catch the RET Metro service which can be found outside the front of the ferry terminal to Schiedam Centrum. From there, change onto a NS train service to get to more destinations in Holland.

RET Metro tickets can be bought online or at Hook of Holland station. NS train tickets can be purchased online or at Schiedam Centrum and other NS stations.

Fares

Rail and Sail daily sailings start from £58 one-way with optional cabin reservations available at half price. For night sailings, the fare is a bit extra as a cabin must be reserved. Tickets must be booked at least 7 days in advance.

Rail and Sail timetables

With a Rail and Sail ticket, you can travel with any Greater Anglia trains at any time to Harwich International Port, on the day of your booking. Please bring a printed copy of your Rail and Sail e-ticket with you to use on our trains and your ferry crossing.

  • Change fees apply when changing ticket in advance.
  • National Rail Conditions of Carriage apply.
  • Tickets are available for travel to and from Harwich International and any station served by Greater Anglia trains.
    Stations such as Peterborough, which are not operated by Greater Anglia but are served by Greater Anglia trains, are included, but only Greater Anglia trains may be used. All main line services on the London to Harwich route are operated by Greater Anglia.
  • Travelling with a bike is not included as part of the Rail and Sail ticket. You can still travel with a bicycle to Holland using a train and ferry service by booking your journey in separate parts. For Stena Line's leg of the journey, book as a foot passenger instead of a Rail and Sail ticket. Bikes are allowed on Greater Anglia trains but there are certain restrictions, visit our cycling page.
