How to find a quieter train

If you can travel flexibly, its a good idea to travel off peak to skip the morning and evening rush when commuters are travelling. You can also use our less busy trains finder,

Travelling with Small children and infants

Pushchairs

You're welcome to bring a foldable pushchair on board our trains, They'll need to be tucked away safely under your seat, in the overheard storage or other storage spaces.

Pushchairs aren’t allowed in the wheelchair area unfortunately as we have to keep them clear for wheelchair users legally. You can spot these easily on the platform as the carriage will be marked blue on the outside of the train.

Toilets and baby changing facilities

On board our trains

Free toilets can be found easily by glancing upwards at our info screens onboard.

Our accessible toilets include a folded baby changing unit and are a private area if you want to use them for breastfeeding.

At our stations

To check if your station has a public toilet and baby changing facilities, find your station page and go to the station facilities section.

If you need help finding where it is at the station, just ask a member of staff who can point you in the right direction.

Keeping the kids entertained

  • Smaller kids can be entertained by bringing their favourite or a colouring book. Our adorable hare is a great model!
  • If you’re going past the countryside, try and spot hares out the window
  • Grab a magazine from our station shops.
  • Older kids can be kept busy with our free Wi-Fi and charging points are available in between seats to keep them going for the whole trip.

FAQ

For health and safety reasons, our staff on board are unable to heat baby food or any other food you may have purchased prior to boarding the train.

The equipment we use on board is substantially more powerful than domestic equipment, so heating instructions either written on the products or requested by you may not be accurate. Even when the food/drink feels acceptable to the touch, the heating process may produce hot spots in these items.

Items sold on board have been tested and risk assessed before being offered for sale, while your own food has not undergone this process.
